TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Teaching and playing music is one of my greatest passions. I focus on the enjoyment of the practical and intellectual aspects of making music, while developing a solid instrument technique.

Every student is unique and so are their musical aspirations, commitment and skills. I use all that input to design and constantly evolve a curriculum specifically tailored for the student, comprised of elements from different teaching resources that are internationally accepted and proven successful over the decades, and even centuries.

Among the tools, methods and books that I apply in my teaching, notable examples could be the Suzuki method, books by the German violinist and pedagogue Henry Schradieck for dexterity, the method created by Czeck influential teacher Otakar Sevcik, and also books by the French violinist and composer Rodolphe Kreutzer among others.

From day 1 at the conservatoire of music, I knew that I wanted to be both a proficient performer and an excellent teacher, which led me to pursue a double degree in Violin Performance and Music Pedagogy. This background, later seasoned and improved through 18 years of active teaching, and thousands of music and violin students in both English and Spanish, enables me to present the deep technical work required to play violin in a natural, personal and approachable manner.

Logistics: My lessons are, for the moment, online only. My studio is currently full, but don't hesitate to reach out and I can add you to my waitlist. I teach students of all backgrounds and skill levels, starting at 7 years of age through adulthood.
